Santa Barbara, CA – Congratulations to Jacob Sheffield who was recently named one of the 40 under 40 by the Pacific Coast Business Times! This award honors up-and-coming business leaders in the Tri Counties under the age of 40 years old. Jacob has been with BPW since 2005 and is a manager in the firm’s tax department.

As a manager in the tax department, he focuses his expertise on complex tax planning and compliance matters for corporations and their shareholders. Jacob enjoys working with BPW’s corporate clients because they have year-round service needs and can have complex transactions or events, which allows him to work closely with those in the company.

Jacob also leads BPW’s Internship Program, which is designed to educate and develop high quality, long-term team members.

He stays involved in the community and UCSB through BPW’s sponsorships and volunteer opportunities such as United Way’s Fun in the Sun, UCSB’s Accounting Association and UCSB’s Technology Management Program.

Jacob supports local events for wildlife conservation organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, California Waterfowl Association and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. In addition, he has volunteered for Quail Unlimited.

Jacob was born and raised in Southern California and graduated from UCSB in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics with an emphasis in Accounting. He also holds a Master’s degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University.

Having lived in Goleta since 2003, Jacob enjoys all the recreational activities the Central Coast has to offer. Especially after a long tax season, Jacob loves to get out and explore the backcountry in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.

In 2010 Jacob married his wife, Alli, and they are expecting their first child in February. Together they enjoy watching football, camping, playing softball and hunting with their two bird dogs Hank and Roxy.
